"Losing his speech": Home Alone star's major health update

Home Alone star Ken Hudson Campbell's daughter has shared a health update for fans after the actor underwent surgery to remove a tumour in his mouth.

Speaking to People Magazine, Michaela revealed that her father is "doing well" after his 10-hour surgery last week, but there are still a few challenges their family will have to face, as Campbell will need to have radiation treatment five times a week.

"I think the hardest part of this is going to be him losing his speech and his ability to talk. So speech therapy is going to play a big role in it," she told the publication.

"We're kind of playing it one step at a time, depending on how debilitated he is.

"If he needs extra help, we might put him into a nursing home for a little while, but if not, we're going to take him back home and we still will be hiring post-op care help with that."

This comes after Michaela and her family managed to raise $102,000 USD ($AU 152,000) for their father's treatment through crowd-funding, after the actor lost his SAG-AFTRA health insurance in January last year.

Campbell, who played Santa Claus in Home Alone, "burst into tears" when he saw the messages and well wishes on the crowd-funding page.

He was diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma - or oral cancer, on October 27.

His family are hoping for a full recovery for the actor who they described as "a loving father of two children with an admirable lust for life, and a passion for acting, writing, & sports."

Images: Instagram

Royal biographer hints at Queen's cause of death

A royal expert claims Queen Elizabeth II was suffering from a “relatively painless” but “invariably fatal” condition before announcing her death 90 minutes before Buckingham Palace.

In a video uploaded to YouTube at 5pm local time (4am NZST), controversial royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell claimed the Queen had passed away at 2.37pm (1.37am NZST).

Buckingham Palace announced the monarch’s passing 90 minutes later, at around 6.30pm UK time.

Her announcement came at the end of a lengthy clip where the royal expert spoke about a condition the Queen was allegedly suffering from.

Lady Campbell, who is most well-known for her books about Princess Diana and the Queen Mother, claimed that Her Majesty was suffering from a serious bone condition, though she wouldn’t reveal “the word that accurately conveys her diagnosis” out of respect for her “dignity and privacy”.

“If she wants to reveal that word, or her advisors wish to reveal it, that is up to them. I don’t think one needs to use the word to get across the point that I think most people will be able to pick up, that this is a really serious situation,” Lady Campbell said in the video, prior to announcing the monarch’s passing.

“The condition has been induced, in part, according to people who know her well, has been created by the tremendous stress to which she has been subjected over the last three years.”

The Palace has not confirmed the Queen’s cause of death.

“Can you imagine an older woman, as her life is winding down, and she is hoping to enjoy the last few years of her life in good health being bombarded by the tremendous abuse to which she and the monarchy have been subjected,” Lady Campbell said.

She went on to say she had tried to warn people that the Queen was “far more ill than they thought she was” over the past few months.

“I have on several occasions in the last few weeks, if not months, made the point that she had been affected to her bones. I used that repeatedly to get across the point that what she was suffering from was a malady of the bones,” she continued.

“There are two maladies of the bones, one is more painful than the other. Fortunately the Queen’s malady, although it falls in the same category and condition of the more painful one, has been the less painful one.

“It has been restrictive, and I will not go into the medical treatments she has been receiving. I have previously indicated that her bruising was due to cannulas and I have left it at that.”

After the video cuts away, Lady Campell continued filming, claiming she had found out about the Queen’s passing.

“Having just made this video it is with great sadness that I have to inform you that events have yet again overtaken one’s plans, and I am reliably informed that the Queen died at 14.37pm this afternoon,” she said.

“And that the reason why the announcement has not been made so far is that they are waiting for Harry and Meghan to arrive at Balmoral, after which the announcement will be made.”

Buckingham Palace went on to announce the news of Her Majesty’s passing before Harry arrived at Balmoral, while Meghan remained in London.

“I think we should be very grateful for having had such a wonderful monarch,” Lady Campbell continued.

“And I think we can be also grateful for the fact that her death was relatively painless. Bone cancer is not fun.

“But she was fortunate enough to have the lesser of the forms of bone cancer, and she kept her spirits and her vitality to practically the end.

“And now, I would say, my sympathies to all her loved ones, all her family, and really, all her subjects many of whom love her.”

However, the Courier Mail reported that medical experts said frailty and “geriatric syndrome” - a term describing a group of common health conditions older people experience that don’t fit in distinct disease categories - could have been contributors to her passing.

Her symptoms reportedly met five of seven criteria used by Britain’s NHS to classify people as frail, including being over 85, having ongoing health conditions, requiring regular help, being forced to cancel activities and using a walking stick.

In the hours before her death, a statement from Buckingham Palace said doctors were “concerned” for the Queen’s health and that she was “comfortable” at Balmoral.

Images: Getty Images / Lady Colin Campbell (YouTube)

Pippa Middleton to gain noble inheritance

Pippa Middleton could be joining her older sister Kate in royal life with a title of her own, inherited from her father-in-law.

Her husband, James Matthews, is the eldest son of David Matthews, and is in line to inherit his father's title as Laird of Glen Affric, along with a 10,000-acre Scottish estate near Loch Ness.

If he does receive the hereditary title upon his father's death, that would see Pippa and James become Lord and Lady Glen Affric.

The Commonwealth-recognised title would make the couple members of the nobility, one step down from royalty.

Pippa and James, a former professional racing driver and hedge fund manager, married in 2017 and share three children: Arthur, three, Grace, one, and three-week-old Rose.

The news of their future title comes as the family reportedly plan to relocate to a 31-hectare lot in Buckleberry, less than an hour’s drive from the Middleton’s new home in Windsor.

Their new home will reportedly mimic Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop, complete with glamping, cabins and a restaurant.

Kate and Pippa’s parents, Michael, 73, and Carole, 67, also live in Buckleberry, which has been a long-time base for the family and where they founded a party accessory company in 1987.

Image: @pippa.middleton.matthews (Instagram)

David Campbell celebrates 8 years of sobriety

David Campbell celebrates eight years of sobriety this week, and he couldn't be happier.

The presenter took to Twitter to mark the milestone by announcing, "Been sober for 8 years this week. Best decision I made for myself, my family and my mental health. If you are thinking of it, know that it's wonderful."

Been sober for 8 years this week. I'm considering giving it up completely myself (anxiety is always worse when I tipple)," and another commented, "Agreed. Three years for me. Hardest thing I've ever done. But also the best that thing that I've ever done."

"It's been two years for me now - huge congratulations to you sir!" shared a Tweeter.

When David decided to become sober, he shared the moment he knew his drinking was an issue.

It was when his then four-year-old son, Leo, commented, "That "Daddy isn't well."

"I felt shame. I couldn't stand by and watch this be normalised with the next generation. I wanted to be a role model for him. I wanted to be the best father I could - I still do.

"So I quit alcohol, and I have never been happier. Now a year on, I have tripled my number of children and my resolve," he told the publication.

David's rocker dad Jimmy Barnes has also openly spoken about his addictions in his memoir Working Class Man. During an interview with Now To Love, Mahalia Barnes revealed why her family is so open to sharing their stories.

"I think that being in the public profile, you do have less privacy, obviously. That's just how it works; it sort of comes with the territory.

"And obviously, there are things that you can choose to keep private, or you can speak openly. But when it comes to talking about things like alcoholism and drug addiction or domestic violence, that are generally kept secret and kept in the shadows, I think the more people that can publicly talk about that stuff, the better.

"It's not easy, it is vulnerable, but it's also really powerful and really important to do that because I think that there's a lot of stigmas that we have around those sorts of issues," said Mahalia.

If you or anyone you know struggles with topics raised in this article, contact lifeline at any time on 13 11 14.

Images: Instagram

Renowned psychic believes David Campbell’s son is Princess Diana reincarnated

Network Nine TV host David Campbell made headlines on Sunday when he said that his son Billy, 4, believes he is the “reincarnation” of Princess Diana.

The convincing account is dividing public opinion, but Queensland-based psychic medium Peter Williams believes that it’s possible. He told The Daily Mail:

“What usually happens when we have these instances of reincarnation, there is usually a reason for it and something left over,” Peter said.

“Billy will be able to give clarity and recall memories [from his time as Princess Diana]. It is very much in the realm [of possibility] that he could recall memories of the crash.”

View this post on Instagram

She did everything for them❤❤#Diana#di#dianaspencer#diana#princessofwales#princessdiana#princessdianaforever#princessdi#ladydaiana👑 #ladydi#ladydianaspencer#angel #royalfamily#royals#peoplesprincess#queenofpeopleshearts#englandroses#hertruestorydiana#kensingtonpalace#bukinghampalace#wales#windsor#UK

A post shared by HRH_Diana princess of Wales❤👸 (@hrh_diana.princess.of.wales) on Jul 17, 2019 at 1:39pm PDT

The psychic medium added, “There's usually a level of trauma where they wish to come through and explain. You can't tell them what you're looking for. It is going to be so hard now to get this information without contaminating it, or without having a sense of bias or leading their son into this.”

Peter also mentioned that there is a limited window into the previous lives of people.

“Aged four through to six is the main bracket," he said. “Once they hit six or seven, a lot of children tend to lose those memories as they start school.

“It is almost like we become tainted by this world … everything becomes black and white when you start school.”

Peter concluded: “This four-year-old has no doubt in his mind he is Princess Diana, so the information that's going to come through will be absolutely bang on. Children do believe, they don't question and that's why they're so pure.”

Why Jimmy Barnes abandoned son David Campbell as a baby

Jimmy Barnes has opened up about the biggest regret of his life, abandoning his son David Campbell when he was young.

Speaking to Who magazine, the Aussie musician revealed why he decided to run away from his responsibilities when his eldest son, now 45, was born.

The 62-year-old Cold Chisel star said it wasn’t his “beautiful boy” he was running from, but rather the pain from his difficult childhood and the belief that his son would be better off without him.

In the interview, Jimmy discussed the trauma he experienced growing up witnessing his father “bash” his mother.

“I guess I ran away from the responsibility of [being a parent]. I just felt like I was dying [felt overwhelmed] I thought there were no prospects, no hope,” he said.

“It was just a matter of time before I died. That's why I was trying hard to flee.”

David, who is now the Today Extra co-host, was left in the care of his maternal grandmother.

Until the age of 10, David believed that Jimmy was just a “family friend” and his mother, Kim, was “his sister”.

Jimmy candidly revealed that leaving his son was not the first time he ran away from a situation in his life.

The rock star had to flee his South Australian family home growing up to escape the domestic violence, abuse and alcoholism that ran rampant.

The singer, whose family moved from Scotland to Australia when he was five years old, said his parents migrated to escape their own problems.

"[My parents] were running away from stuff without dealing with it ... they came 12,000 miles and had the same problems [in Australia] they had in Glasgow. If anything their problems got worse," he said.

"I thought it was a normal childhood ... it was abusive and violent and frightening, and it was traumatising."

Jimmy has since repaired his relationship with his eldest son and is now a happy grandfather to David’s three children, Leo and twins Betty and Billy Campbell.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by David Campbell (@davidcampbell73) on Mar 31, 2017 at 10:44pm PDT

Although he regrets missing out on David’s childhood, Jimmy questions if his influence would’ve been the best thing for his son back then.

"I wasn’t together enough to be present in David’s life when he was born. I wasn’t together enough, even when we did approach it," he said.

“Knowing David as I do and looking at his children and seeing the beauty and the purity of their youth, it’s probably selfish of me to regret not having that time with him.

"When you get down to it, we are who we are now it is difficult to have any regrets because I don’t know if I could love David anymore."
